This online database provides legislative and regulatory information related to select nutrition, physical activity and obesity topics. The database allows users to search the database for regulations or legislation by topic, category, setting, state, and/or year. The database can be used to highlight state-based obesity policy efforts; identify trends in state legislation or regulation; identify replicable policies enacted in states; and monitor topic specific legislative and regulatory activity in states. Bridging the Gap
RWJF’s Bridging the Gap hosts a web page highlighting the program’s research related to state-level taxes on snack foods, soda, and other sweetened beverages. State-level sales tax rates are provided for sugar-sweetened soda in each of the 50 states as well as in the District of Columbia (D.C.) as of January 1, 2011. For researchers, the page also contains data providing historic sales tax rates for soda and snack foods in each of the 50 states and D.C. Sales tax data are available from 1997 through 2011. Files containing definitions of food and food products for use in conjunction with the snack tax data also are provided. View the web page.

This web tool provides a catalogue of existing surveillance systems that contain data relevant to childhood obesity research. It includes local, state, and national systems that provide data at multiple levels. The Catalogue provides one-stop access to a large number of systems on obesity-related policies and environmental factors, as well as trends in relevant health behaviors, outcomes and determinants.
