Food Systems and Public Health: Linkages to Achieve Healthier Diets and Healthier Communities

Proceedings from the April 2009 conference Food Systems and Public Health: Linkages to Achieve Healthier Diets and Healthier Communities are now available in a special double issue of the Journal of Hunger & Environmental Nutrition. The conference gathered 100 leading experts in health, nutrition, obesity, sustainable agriculture, economics, business, marketing and public policy to discuss how we as a nation can move toward a healthier and more sustainable food system. The conference was organized by Healthy Eating Research.

The journal’s special issue includes background papers and other papers related to the conference, along with policy-relevant research, action recommendations, the conference agenda, a participant list and additional resources. The special journal supplement was co-edited by Mary Story, PhD, RD, University of Minnesota; Michael Hamm, PhD, Michigan State University; and David Wallinga, MD, Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy.
