Healthy Eating Research is a $16 million national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). The program supports research on environmental and policy strategies to promote healthy eating among children to prevent childhood obesity, especially among the low-income and racial and ethnic populations at highest risk for obesity. Findings will advance RWJF's efforts to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic by 2015. The program is directed by Mary Story, Ph.D., R.D., professor in the division of epidemiology and community health at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health.

2008 Call for Proposals - Rapid-Response Grants

This is a joint call for proposals (CFP) from RWJF's Healthy Eating Research and Active Living Research programs. This call for proposals (CFP) supports time-sensitive, opportunistic studies to evaluate changes in policies or environments with the potential to reach children who are at highest risk for obesity, including African-American, Latino, Native American, Asian American, and Pacific Islander children (ages 3 to 18) who live in low-income communities or communities with limited access to affordable healthy foods and/or safe opportunities for physical activity. Click here for more information about this new funding opportunity.

Healthy Eating Research Round 3 Call for Proposals is now closed.

Round 3 focused on studies of policy and environmental strategies in four areas: food pricing and economic approaches; food and beverage marketing and promotion; improving access to affordable healthy foods in low-income communities; and evaluations of other promising food-related policy and environmental strategies. Target populations included children and adolescents ages 3 to 18. Click here to read the Round 3 Call for Proposals.
