Healthy Eating Research has issued a number of previous calls for proposals (CFPs). Descriptions of past CFPs and links to grants funded are provided below.
Healthy Eating Research Round 6 The Healthy Eating Research 2011 Call for Proposals was released in January 2011 and was aimed at providing key decision- and policy-makers with evidence to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic. Healthy Eating Research Round 6 grants focused on policy-relevant research on a wide range of topics, including front-of-package labeling, point-of-purchase prompts, food and beverage marketing and promotion, food pricing and other economic approaches, and the child care and school settings.
Healthy Eating Research 2011 New Connections The Healthy Eating Research 2011 Call for Proposals was released in January 2011 and was aimed at providing key decision- and policy-makers with evidence to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic. The Healthy Eating Research 2011 New Connections grants focused on policy-relevant research in the child care and school settings. These grants are for new investigators from historically disadvantaged and underrepresented communities.
Healthy Eating Research 2010 Rapid-Response Round 3 The Healthy Eating Research 2010 Call for Proposals was released in March 2010 and was aimed at providing key decision- and policy-makers with evidence to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic. Healthy Eating Research 2010 Rapid-Response Round 3 grants supported time-sensitive and opportunistic studies on emerging or anticipated changes in food-related policies or environments that could only be conducted during a short window of opportunity and were needed to inform policy debates for local, state or national action.
Healthy Eating Research Round 5 The Healthy Eating Research 2010 call for proposals was released in March 2010 and was aimed at providing key decision- and policy-makers with evidence to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic. Healthy Eating Research Round 5 grants focused on policy-relevant research on a wide range of topics, such as agricultural policies; food and beverage marketing; food pricing and other economic approaches; front-of-package labeling and point-of-purchase prompts; food and beverage formulation; improving access to healthy foods in lower-income communities; and promising food-related policy and environmental changes in settings where children and their families make food choices, including community, school, after-school and child-care settings.
Active Living Research and Healthy Eating Research 2009 Rapid-Response Round 2 Grants The 2009 Rapid-Response Round 2 Grants call for proposals was released in March 2009 by RWJF's Active Living Research and Healthy Eating Research programs as a joint CFP designed to support time-sensitive, opportunistic studies to evaluate changes in policies or environments with the potential to reach children who are at highest risk for obesity. Research studies could focus on one or both sides of the energy balance equation - on physical activity (including sedentary behavior), healthy eating or both. Healthy Eating Research Round 4 The Healthy Eating Research Round 4 call for proposals was released in January 2009 and focused on studies of policy and environmental strategies in four priority areas: food pricing and economic approaches; food and beverage marketing; improving access to healthy foods in low-income communities; and evaluations of promising food-related policy and environmental strategies in settings where children and their families make food choices. Healthy Eating Research 2009 New Connections The Healthy Eating Research 2009 New Connections call for proposals was released in January 2009. This CFP focused on the same priority areas as the Round 4 CFP: food pricing and economic approaches; food and beverage marketing; improving access to healthy foods in low-income communities; and evaluations of promising food-related policy and environmental strategies in settings where children and their families make food choices. These New Connections grants were for early-career investigators from historically disadvantaged and underrepresented communities who bring special experience and expertise regarding the racial/ethnic and low-income populations and communities targeted by Healthy Eating Research. Active Living Research and Healthy Eating Research 2008 Rapid-Response Grants The 2008 Rapid-Response Grants call for proposals was released in May 2008 by RWJF's Active Living Research and Healthy Eating Research programs as a joint CFP designed to support time-sensitive, opportunistic studies to evaluate changes in policies or environments with the potential to reach children who are at highest risk for obesity. This solicitation was parallel in study topics to the Healthy Eating Research Round 3 call for proposals, focusing on policy and environmental strategies in four areas: food pricing and economic approaches; food and beverage marketing and promotion; improving access to affordable healthy foods in low-income communities; and evaluations of other promising food-related policy and environmental strategies. These childhood obesity-related grants were for early-career investigators from historically disadvantaged and underrepresented communities who had completed their doctorate or terminal degree within the last seven years.
