Dr. Robert Jeffery is a professor in the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. He is also Director of the University of Minnesota Obesity Prevention Center. Dr. Jeffery received a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University in 1968 and a Ph.D. in Psychology in 1974. Obesity has been his primary area of study throughout his career with special focuses in the areas of health behaviors, diabetes, cancer and smoking. He has published over 250 scientific papers on the topic. He is especially well known for his work in conceptualizing obesity as a public health problem and has done several intervention studies in this area.
