Melissa Nelson Laska, Ph.D., R.D. Faculty Research Associate
Dr. Melissa Nelson Laska is an assistant professor in the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Nelson Laska's primary research interests are in environmental and behavioral determinants of excess weight gain during adolescence and young adulthood. Her current work focuses on weight gain among college students and influential characteristics of the campus environment. Dr. Nelson Laska received a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University, and a Ph.D. in Nutrition with a concentration in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, she has trained at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and is currently a registered dietitian.
